Property Taxes and Tax Bills
The third installment of taxes for 2011-12 is due Wednesday February 15, 2012. Remember that you will need your property tax bill (the one your received last summer) to file your 2011 Income Taxes. On that note, on December 22, 2011 the Vermont Supreme Court determined that the information on Property Tax bills are “exempt from public inspection and copying under VSA 1 §317 (c)(1)(‘records which by law are designated confidential’) What that means to you and me is that the town office cannot copy or give your tax bill to anyone except you. We cannot fax a copy of your tax bill to your accountant or H&R Block or your realtor or your neighbor or to anyone that just calls in to the office. So you need to think ahead and be prepared. You will have to come in to the office and request a copy of your tax bill in person.

Dog Licenses
Remember that dog license renewals are due every year by April 1. Licenses are $10 per animal and proof of current rabies vaccinations are needed. Rabies vaccines are now good for three years. If your pet is currently registered in town, Tina will be sending you a reminder note for licensing that will inform you of your pet’s rabies status. Call her at 434-3064 X 221 if you have any questions.
